Folkband

Introduction

Ensemble arrangements for your next session or your barn dance or - well just for fun, maybe?

There's enough stuff for an all Irish full night gig here, as well as lots of English, Scottish and Norwegian traditional music arranged for your band!

But, please understand

I just can't give you Folkband for free. It's just far too big for that. I'll give you a couple of
free samples to give you an idea what it's all about, and you can also listen all the midi files you like, but if you want access to all the sheet music here, you'll have to become a member of Musica Viva.

The sheet music here is in PDF (Acrobat) format only, so you'll need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. If you haven't got it already, you can download it for free from Adobe.com.

Instrumentation

The basic instrumentation consists of a woodwind part (clarinet for the Norwegian tunes, flute for the British), three violin parts (solo, advanced and beginner), two guitar parts (solo and rhtyhm) and a bass part.
But don't take that too literally! Practically all Folkband arrangements are made so that you can just leave out any instruments you don't have at hand - as long as the tune is there, of course (it's in the solo fiddle, solo guitar and usually the woodwind parts).
You can also use other instruments in addition to or instead of the instruments in the basic arrangements. Use this search form for some tips of how to use your instrument in a Folkband arrangement:
