Musica Viva: Information and help : What's new?

What's new?

Version 2 (Apr 25th 1999 - Nov 25th 1999)

Musica Viva took only two months to outgrow my personal website space. Now it was time to move on to the next step - a free web site provider account dedicated to this project only. Unfortunately I picked Eosnet.com (now mercifully defunct) and it caused me noe end of problems.

This is not a complete list. I used to be very sloppy about updating the "What's new" page way back then.

A month with nothing new happening! But don't blame me. It seems Eosnet had some serious problem. So Musica Viva hasn't been online at all for a while! Seems everything is sorted out now, though :-)

Now it's time for a major update. The music piled up while I waited to get my site back. and now it's 514 titles in the archive.
I've also updated and reloaded nearly all the existing pages. Hope I didn't mess it up too much.

I was planning to update Musica Viva every Sunday evening (Norwegian time), but I got a little delayed this time.
  • Started a brand new ensemble project. "The Music Workshop" are to be a series of ultra-flexible arrangements, playable with more or less any combination of instruments. It will become a separate part of Musica Viva by and by, but for now, the first title is placed in The Common Room.
  • Corrected a couple of broken links - as usual (there seems to be no end to them).
  • Added some new pieces here and there. There are now 437 titles in the archive.

  • Added the organ section.
  • Corrected a couple of broken links
  • Added some new pieces. There are now 413 titles in the archive
  • Uploaded "sneak previews" of some coming features.

Lots of new piano music! More than 50 new titles
I've also updated the Free Sheet Music Directory. A computer crash forced me to reconstruct it from scratch, and that took some time. I hope I got everything right.
I've also spent far too much time moving the site from SOL to Eosnet. Thought that would be quite simple, but no!
Anyway, it's done now, and I hope to be able to spend more time doing what I really want to do: adding more music to the site.

Yes, there have been changes in this period. I just haven't got around to update the "what's new" page. Despite some serious server problems and an almost fatal computer crash at home, I've managed to add a few new sites at the Free Sheet Music Directory, almost 30 new piano pieces and a few titles to some of the other archives. I've also done some much needed proof reading. I'm almost back on schedule now, with a brand new Macintosh G3 computer and a brand new server for Musica Viva : )

I'm working mainly on the Free Sheet Music Directory at the moment. You wouldn't believe how many sites with free sheet music there are out there! This means that I haven't got much time to expand my own collection. Oh well! I guess it's the same to you whether I post the music myself or whether I tell you where else to find it! I did manage to add two songs to The Renaissance Workshop, though.
It turned out that about 10% of the Musica Viva archives has been corrupted for at least a week! Sorry! I think I've corrected it all now. If you find anything wrong on Musica Viva, please don't hesitate to tell me! (And thanks to the anonymus person who told me about the errors.)

Too many subtle changes to mention them all here. It might look the same, but it really is a brand new site, larger and hopefully much better organized.
